America’s 100 Docs
Client: National Archives Foundation
Happy 250th birthday, America! Celebrate the United States’ semiquincentennial birthday in 2026 by voting for the most important document in our history! iThrive Games and FableVision Studios collaborated to design and develop “America’s 100 Docs,” a mobile-first voting interactive created for the National Archives Foundation that invites users to decide the most significant document in America's 250 years of history using documents found in the National Archives.
The National Archives Foundation provided FableVision and iThrive Games their top 100 documents that have played an important or iconic role in American history, such as the Articles of Confederation and the Wright Brothers Flight Machine Patent. These primary source documents range from handwritten legislation, to poster art, to photographs.
The voting interactive launched in June 2025, with the general public invited to vote for their top two documents from eight time periods. Users were dealt three cards, chose their top two and discarded the third, and then were dealt a new third card to again select their top two. The process continued until they had their top two choices from each time period. Users had until February 2026 to cast their votes, at which point the final 16 documents were put against each other in a sweet-16-style bracket. In this sweet 16, users had from February 1-February 14 to create their own brackets, similar to March Madness, predicting what docs will make it to each round. After creating their brackets, users will be invited to complete head-to-head voting each week until one ultimate document remains and is announced on March 16, 2026!
