FarmTech Quest
Client: Georgia Public Broadcasting
Georgia farmers need help deciding what new technologies work best for their farms in “FarmTech Quest!” In the new VR experience from the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) and Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB), developed by FableVision Studios, middle and high school students learn about modern farming technologies and apply them to real-world agricultural dilemmas in Georgia.
The experience begins in a 3D lab where students learn about four different technologies: robotics, precision agriculture, water management, and hydroponics. Players are then greeted by a farmer from one of four farm categories: urban, poultry, North Georgia crops, and South Georgia crops. Each farm presents a total of three dilemmas for the player. Players must choose the best solution from three options that aligns with the farmer’s needs and parameters. After making their decision, the player receives a one-to-five-star rating from the farmer, with an explanation of how their choices affected their star rating.
FableVision collaborated with content experts, including a teacher whose students designed the in-game logos, to ensure the experience aligns with the latest Georgia standards. “FarmTech Quest” is available on Oculus and Meta Quest headsets, the GPB VR/AR app, as well as on WebGL through a web browser.
