The Fablevision and Scholastic/Weston Woods animated adaption of Peter Reynolds' book The North Star has been chosen as an official selection at the 2nd Annual Providence Childrens' Film Festival. The festival, which brings "high quality, independent and international children's films, animation and documentaries to Rhode Island", is taking place from February 17th to the 22nd. The 15-minute film adaptation of The North Star is narrated by actor Tim Curry, with the original score by Tony Lechner. The original book, written by Fablevision co-founder Peter H. Reynolds, is the story of a young boy's journey through life that empowers readers to reach their true potential and seek their own unique path. Fablevision's President Gary Goldberger co-directed with Peter H. Reynolds on the project. The project also was created with the help of animator Didi Hatcher and producer Naomi Greenfield. In 2009 the project came to fruition when Weston Woods chose The North Star to be one of ten books converted into films that year. The film initially appeared at the 2010 Chicago International Children's Film Festival.
