Walker Therapeutic and Educational Programs is a non-profit organization that creates high-quality evidence-informed supports, services, and academic and therapeutic programs for children and families throughout Massachusetts. Walker’s Wellness Coach Program is an AmeriCorps service initiative that recruits, trains, and places young adults to serve as Wellness Coaches in schools and community organizations to address youth behavioral challenges and unhealthy behaviors. Wellness Coaches work alongside Walker’s team and gain experience supporting students to thrive in Boston’s public schools and after school programs.

The video follows Yahir Sanchez, a current Walker Wellness Coach. Yahir shares his first-hand account on his experience with the wellness coach program, beginning with his personal struggles in school to an interest in volunteering and giving back in adulthood. Through relatable storytelling and lighthearted humor, the video intermixes meaningful scenes of mentorship and educational impact with Yahir’s own reflections on peer support in his development.
