Pediatric Education Series

Client: CENTER FOR INFORMATION AND STUDY ON CLINICAL RESEARCH PARTICIPATION (CISCRP)

Clinical trials help others by advancing medical treatment, but they are frequently misunderstood, resulting in hesitation for adult and child participation. To help The Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) and its partner Otsuka explain clinical research to a new audience – children and teenagers – FableVision created in collaboration with CISCRP a series of four 2-minute live-action videos that educate pediatric patients on the consent and clinical trial process.

To connect with the audience, the short, TikTok-style videos feature a diverse cast of young people speaking into the camera with a fast pace and high energy. They engage children by being friendly and helpful and occasionally repeating the material. The sticker-like, eye-catching motion graphics add energy with vibrant pops of color and playfulness.

Part one of the series provides an overview of clinical trials and part two digs deeper by discussing who is involved. Part three explains how the trials work – before, during, and after – and what it means to consent, and part four talks about the given treatments. FableVision utilized feedback from parents, patients, community advocates, and an ethics committee to ensure the content was appropriate and appealing.

The Pediatric Education Series is publicly available in English and with Spanish subtitles on CISCRP’s YouTube Channel and website.
