Can a Playground be Too Safe? - In recent decades, playgrounds have transformed from complex, towering jungle gyms on black tops to short, plastic structures surrounded by rubber or wood chips. Many parents have applauded the increased safety features in their neighborhood playgrounds, but studies have found that "boring" playground equipment may hurt children's psyche worse than the physical injury they may have fallen victim to by older equipment.

Children book apps, available for the iPad, iPhone, and iTouch are appearing with impressive interactive graphic capabilities. The best place to locate these game-like books is in the iTunes App Store where you can choose from over 41,000 books equipped with sound, animation or graphics that are altered by the reader's touch. Another wonderful advantage of book apps is the very small price tag; it is hard to feel guilty about purchasing a $4 interactive story book!

Weekly Click- June 29th

Supreme Court Has Ruled; Now Games Have a Duty- On Monday June 27th the Supreme Court decided, with a 7-2 majority, that states can not ban the sale of violent video games to minors, as it is a First Amendment violation. This ruling means that video games have now joined other forms of media such as film that are considered art forms.
