Sleepovers are a great opportunity for children to make memories together. They can stay up past their bedtimes, play fun games, and gorge on snacks. However, sleepovers may also cause anxiety for young kids, who often miss home. To help children develop the communication skills they need to share these feelings, the FableVision fall 2019 interns created a resource for parents and children alike.
The fall 2019 interns are excited to announce our independent project Amelia’s First Sleepover! This interactive choose-your-own-adventure story helps kids overcome sleepover anxiety. Through four scenarios, Amelia and her friends solve four common sleepover problems, learn anxiety-relieving techniques, and create a strong support network. As the reader, you decide the storyline and choose who you want to solve each problem. On each replay, you can learn new ways to support nervous friends. With colorful illustrations and diverse character representations, this interactive will create an enriching experience for you and your family.

The intern team worked collaboratively this fall to brainstorm, develop the script, design characters and backgrounds, code materials, and create a marketing plan for the project. The process was challenging, but we’re proud to present this great project to all of you.
We would also like to thank our internship program coordinators, who patiently gave suggestions and feedback throughout the development of our project. Their encouragement inspired us to strive forward.
