Heroes of Zero

Client: Power of zero

Magical stones, a neighborhood goat, and two best friends are the perfect combination to entertain and educate children in a beautiful, new animated series. Power of Zero teaches young children 12 core skills, or “powers” – resilience, creativity, hero power (playing well with others), respect, connection, critical thinking, digital intelligence, kindness, emotional regulation, defender (standing up for what is right), inclusivity, voice, and resilience. To help the organization communicate these powers, FableVision created a six-episode animated series, “Heroes of Zero,” that follows the adventures of friends Nena and Ciro.

The first season teaches four of the 12 powers – digital intelligence, critical thinking, emotional regulation, and resilience. When Nena and Ciro discover a bag of magical stones that fix their broken tablet, their adventures begin. Each stone corresponds to one of the 12 powers and helps them learn about how to achieve their best selves and support their loved ones.

The series showcases a multitude of cultures, abilities, identities, and family structures. Nena is bouncy, loud, and extraverted with short curly hair. Her grandparents are Indian – their names “Lola” and “Lolo” mean “grandmother” and “grandfather” in Filipino. Ciro is nonverbal and empathetic, and his mother, Kit, is Japanese. The backgrounds foster a friendly and inviting atmosphere – cartoony, full of color, and with impressionistic details.

The English language show has been translated into Spanish, Portuguese, and Filipino and localized for Singapore.
