Position at FableVision: Production Intern
What does a day in the studio look like for you?: I typically start my day by attending meetings for a project I’m shadowing called Nunaka, a game exploring Sugpiaq heritage and the Sugt'stun language for 3-5 year olds! After indulging in a post-meeting pretzel snack with the team, I get to work on playtesting new builds. I eat lunch outside and chat with the amazing FableVision staff and interns! I’ll then work on our intern project, which includes reviewing deliverables, script writing, and other project management tasks.
What is the coolest thing you’ve learned since starting at FableVision?: Coming from a focus on linear media, it was so cool to learn about all the different aspects that go into creating interactives! I especially liked learning about the types of scaffolding to guide players through a game.
Fun Fact: I had pet fish that lived for over 15 years but I can’t keep a plant alive for a week.
The Dive
“The Dive” is a series of cyanotypes on handmade cotton paper. Because cyanotypes were originally used to create blueprints, this work functions as a kind of blueprint for a dive. Inspired by Eadweard Muybridge’s use of still images to capture motion, the piece has an animation-like quality, further emphasized by the cut-paper splashes. The tight, claustrophobic framing reflects the precision and constraint required in diving, while also acknowledging a simultaneous lack of control over gravity.

Position at FableVision: Art Intern
What does a day in the studio look like for you?: I get set up, check my workload for the day, then start drawing! I spend most of my time creating concept art and assets for our intern project, the latter of which includes character portraits, backgrounds, cutscenes, props, and UI/UX elements. Otherwise, I get to shadow production meetings, study art files from past studio projects, and occasionally attend lectures on different departments of the studio.
What is the coolest thing you’ve learned since starting at FableVision?: If I had to choose, it would probably be all the different know-hows in creating and organizing art assets in streamlined ways that minimize the burden on the rest of the team.
Fun Fact: The first time I started animating was in 5th grade on Scratch.mit.edu.
Camille Nolfo
Hometown: Glen Rock, NJ
School and Major: Northeastern University, Game Design Major, Animation Minor
Position at FableVision: Producer Intern
What does a day in the studio look like for you?: I set myself up for the day and check on the progress for the intern project. I then ask to help out with anything on the projects I shadow, which usually involves me organizing files, scripts, Trello cards, and more. I also attend a couple of meetings throughout the day, some including clients for projects.
What is the coolest thing you’ve learned since starting at FableVision?: It was cool to learn more about the production side of game making! I usually focus more on the design and art aspects of games for my major, so getting to do more organization, scaffolding for games, and script writing has been pretty fun! I also loved getting to meet all of the great people who work at FableVision, everyone is super nice and welcoming!
Fun Fact: I got my gallbladder removed before my senior year of high school.

School and Major: Emerson College, Media Arts Production, Audio Production Concentration
Position at FableVision: audiyo-yo Intern
What does a day in the studio look like for you?: I get set up and work on making sure I'm keeping updated on all the projects audiyo-yo is working on! Then I start looking for where I can help, what meeting would be useful to have me, and anything I can take off the hands of the world's busiest producers! My favorite part of the day is definitely meeting with the audiyo-yo team and working on the intern project with the rest of my cohort!
What is the coolest thing you’ve learned since starting at FableVision?: I've learned a lot about the nitty gritty of production work! I've always worked as a sound designer on the school productions I've been on, so it's been really great to see how an organized production team can manage and facilitate work in audio post! This is definitely something I will take with me into my career.
Fun Fact: I'm a rare XX-chrossome colorblind, and can easily drink a gallon of ice tea a day! Jury's still out on if those two things are related, though.
Samara Reid
Hometown: Concord, MA
School and Major: Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Film and Animation
Position at FableVision: Art Intern
What does a day in the studio look like for you?: I get set up and attend meetings! After that, I work on art assignments and art assets for our Intern Project. I then break for lunch, and get back to work. My favorite part of the day is getting feedback on my work and hanging out with everyone at the company hangouts on Fridays.
What is the coolest thing you’ve learned since starting at FableVision?: The coolest thing I learned is that you can be organized and casual at the same time. I was worried that we would have to constantly rush and be stressed all the time, but being on a team with amazing people really lightens the load! You just gotta collaborate and communicate. Spine is also pretty cool.
Fun Fact: I make webcomics and ice cream in my free time!
BRIGHTBLOOD
BRIGHTBLOOD is my ongoing horror-comedy webcomic. While most of the comic is a whimsical and slightly off-putting slice of life, it is interspersed with the horrific nightmares of the main character, Cillian. I had been thinking about drawing this page for a year before its creation. I wanted to spook the reader with the giant eye in the sky, which is hard to do with an illustration. I used a spiral-like composition to lead the reader's eye around the page, starting with Cillian’s backlit silhouette, and ending on the gargantuan eye. The art style of BRIGHTBLOOD is very stylized, sharp, and cartoony. Using that to my advantage, drawing the eye in a soft, realistic manner was a fun way to contribute to the otherworldly feeling I wanted to give off.
Kiri
This piece was very experimental for me because it also used collage. The background is a photo of a Seven Eleven that I altered to look like it was underwater. One of my favorite things is bright eye-searing colors, so I used plenty of those to create a stark contrast between the fish and the rest of the illustration. I wanted this piece to feel like day dreaming and dissociating at work.
The Subway
This piece was inspired by my subway rides to and from work, and of course, Pride month. The characters featured have been with me since elementary school and have helped me on my journey exploring my queer identity. I wanted to express the joy and closeness queer friend groups have in this piece by using expressions and body language, as well as bright colors and light. Even though I couldn’t celebrate Pride with my friends this year, I still wanted to use this piece to show how it feels to just hang out together- even if it’s something as small as taking the train together.

Position at FableVision: Developer Intern
What does a day in the studio look like for you?: I usually arrive and dive straight into Unity, starting my day by creating a to-do list to keep myself on track. A big part of my role involves implementing the art assets provided by our artists and integrating scripts into the project. Some days, I get the chance to have one-on-one meetings with other developers and I get to hear about their career journeys, share my own work, and collaborate on debugging any issues that pop up.
What is the coolest thing you’ve learned since starting at FableVision?: Beyond learning how rewarding it is to see all the pieces of a project come together, one of my favorite things was to get more hands-on experience with Unity. Being able to come up with various mini games and learn how to implement them and talk out creative solutions with the developers at FableVision was also extremely enlightening.
Fun Fact: Every escape room I’ve ever done I’ve escaped.
