FableVision and Massachusetts Department
of Mental Health Open Conversations About Children’s Mental Health with New Campaign

The Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) has launched a new public awareness campaign to normalize conversations about mental health for children. Different Kinds of Hurt: Isaac’s Story features a graphic novel and animation created in partnership between DMH, Walker, Express Yourself, and FableVision Studios.

Isaac’s Story highlights the similarities between mental and physical health through a conversation between Isaac and his friend Mia. FableVision wrote scripts, storyboarded the animation, and created original characters for Isaac’s Story. The campaign also includes print materials: a poster, coloring page, and three-page resource guide for teachers, families, and parents. FableVision designed these resources to foster conversations both in and out of the classroom.

DMH launched the campaign at the Sarah Greenwood School in Dorchester on Tuesday, May 7. Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services Secretary Marylou Sudders read the book as a part of Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week. The story was also featured in a Boston 25 News piece for Mental Health Awareness Month.

The Isaac’s Story graphic novel is available for free for Massachusetts state residents. To order your copy, click here.

FableVision Wins Parents’ Choice Gold Awards for Project Here Games and The Water Princess

Project Here Games.png
water+princess.jpg

FableVision Studios is proud to announce that we won two Parents’ Choice Gold Awards for our work on Project Here Games and The Water Princess! We would like to thank and congratulate all those involved in both projects.

Project Here Games is a collection of games dedicated to ending substance abuse in teens that we designed and developed in partnership with Health Resources in Action, the GE Foundation, and the Massachusetts Attorney General Office. The game is a part of Project Here, a Massachusetts state-wide initiative to promote substance use prevention and healthy decision-making through social-emotional learning and to make substance use prevention education available to all public middle schools in the state.

The Water Princess is an animated film that we created in collaboration with Weston Woods Studios. The film is based on the award-winning book of the same name, written by Susan Verde and illustrated by FableVision founder Peter H. Reynolds, which tells the story of supermodel and activist Georgie Badiel’s life and brings awareness to the clean water crisis.

We’re proud of the hard work that our team put into these projects and the important messages that both Project Here Games and The Water Princess share with young audiences and their families.
