Museum of Science "EiE Families" Website

Client: Museum of Science

Parents and children aged 4-11 have a new online learning destination from EiE®, Museum of Science, BostonEiE Families! The new microsite with interactive learning features was built by FableVision as a free resource for engineering and computer science activities to support STEM learning at-home and on-the-go. FableVision worked closely with the EiE team to transform their award-winning content into engaging, online at-home experiences for parents and children to practice the Engineering Design Process and encourage active thinking and metacognition.

FableVision prototyped one of the six EiE-provided activities titled Bye Bye Bug. In this activity, siblings Kenji and Emi discover a ladybug in their bedroom and must work together to build a device to safely move the bug outside. Families are walked through five steps: Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, and Improve. Through this process, children are encouraged to try new ideas, question if their way of thinking is working, and not be afraid to try a different tactic.

Additional EiE activities, including Turn it Up!, Keep it Watered, A Story to Remember, Sounds of Celebration, and Pass the Peppers, will be adapted into online activities in the future. However, PDFs of these activities are currently available.

EiE Families is publicly accessible in both English and Spanish language versions at this link. Help Kenji and Emi save that ladybug!
