The Mahabharata Animated Film

Client: Peabody Essex Museum

To educate and prepare museum visitors for their South Asian Art exhibition, the Peabody Essex Museum worked with FableVision to create an animated abridged version of the religious epic Mahabharata for projection on a gallery wall. A legendary Hindu tale, the Mahabharata is longer than any other epic in existence and tells the story of the Pandavas and Kauravas, two families born of the same blood. Their conflict is morally grey, with heroes and villains on both sides. 

This historic retelling of the epic contains elements of the exhibit’s paintings to ensure accuracy and detail. The final piece is a moving testament to the Mahabharata’s rich, moving, and complicated history.
