The National Writing Project, Reading Is Fundamental, The College Board

Three non-profit organizations, all dedicated to promoting literacy and student success, united to publish a book that would encourage Head Start families to spend time reading and writing together. They asked FableVision to write and illustrate the book.

Founder/CEO Peter H. Reynolds and President Paul A. Reynolds co-write six original mini-books, centered on a pre-school character, SugarLoaf, that Peter had created for two previously published books. Each mini-book illustrates simple ways family members can incorporate whole literacy concepts into everyday tasks. Following each mini-book, we created colorful, open, two-page spreads where families and children could write and illustrate their own stories together.

The book was so well received that Reading Is Fundamental asked FableVision to turn the mini-books into a series of TeleFables that will be available on RIF's website.
