FableVision Learning's Director of Professional Development Lori Collins graduated from Boston College with a finance degree, ready to tackle the Boston banking business. A short move back to New Hampshire, and three sons later, she changed vocations and earned an M. Ed in elementary education. She began her education career in the Manchester, NH Catholic schools teaching kindergarten, fifth grade and seventh grade.
Lori's interest in technology gained momentum in the 1990's when she became an Intel Master Teacher and she gradually moved to technology integration for the diocese. After a move to public education in 2002, Lori spent time as a middle school technology integrator as well as a district media director. She is proud to have coached her students to earn third place in CNN's 2003 documentary contest (with a film titled American Drug Wars: Dead or Alive?). She began supporting teachers in technology integration as well as teaching as an adjunct faculty member of Southern NH University.
In 2006, Lori earned an advanced graduate certificate (CAGS) in Educational Leadership and proceeded to take on the directorship of the Greater Manchester Professional Development Center, one of six regional PD centers supported by the NH Department of Education. During that time she was the project lead for all the Title II D grants for the Manchester School District, NH's largest district with 18,650 students. She has training certifications in Smart Technologies, Thinkfinity, Intel Thinking with Technology, PBWorks, and Independent Investigation Research Methods. Her passion is facilitating and coaching teachers, from kindergarten to high school, about how to use technology effectively in their classrooms.
When not in a classroom or on the computer, Lori enjoys walking the beach in Kennebunk, Maine with her three sons and Airedale, Terry. She is excited to join the team at FableVision Learning and collaborate with her former Boston College classmate Paul Reynolds. She looks forward to sharing her experiences in education, technology and enthusiasm for FableVision's mission and supporting our growing community.
